Gus Hansen Bio

Gustav (Gus) Hansen is a Danish professional poker player who plays his poker under the sponsorship of the worlds second largest online poker room, Full Tilt Poker.

Born just outside Copenhagen, Denmark the professional poker player began his poker journey during his time as an exchange student at UC Santa Cruz, playing his poker at the Ocean View Card Room in Santa Cruz, California.

Since then the Full Tilt Poker pro has managed to create a huge bankroll for himself, amounting to over $15,000,000 in total earnings. Things did however turn bad for the player last year, seeing him lose almost $1.5 million at the online poker room before he was able to begin his assault on the members again to reclaim his funds.

Winning isn’t anything new to Hansen, with a vast amount of high profile tournament victories to his name including being the only player to have won three World Poker Tour open tournament titles.

Hansen refers to himself as a professional gambler rather than poker player because of his enjoyment for wagering bets on a number of things outside of the game of poker, his boxing match with fellow poker professional Theo Jorgensen being a great example as he was entertaining bets from other poker professionals about the outcome of the bout.

The player isn’t just a one trick pony either, having a number of other ventures to his name too.

Hansen was one of the founders of pokerchamps.com which was launched back in 2003 but after being in operation for 2 years the site and software was sold to leading British gambling network Betfair who rebranded the site and created Betfair Poker.

Hansen is one of the most active of the Full Tilt Poker professional players on the site and so there is a high possibility of you clashing chips with the well known player if you have the bankroll to buy in.
